Our client is Singapore General Hospital (SGH), and our project is on the optimisation of pre-surgery assessment appointment slots at the SGH Pre-Admission Centre (PAC). Surgery patients requiring General Anaesthesia must complete an outpatient pre-surgery assessment within 6 weeks prior to surgery. Surgery may be postponed if this assessment is not completed. Pre-surgery assessments are performed at the SGH Pre-Admission Centre (PAC) by a team of anaesthesiology doctors and nurses. The PAC’s appointment slots are perennially overbooked, and medical personnel often have to work overtime. It is believed that a statistical and queuing analysis may help to optimise appointment and manpower utilisation at the PAC.
