In collaboration with Integrated Decision Systems Consulting (IDSC), our team was tasked to resolve an issue belonging to a local plumbing company. The goal was to optimize the number of teams needed for the morning shift between 7am to 3pm to fulfil the mandated criteria of responding to the jobs within 30 minutes, 90% of the time.

The team conducted proportion hypothesis testing and demand and service data distribution identification through Chi-squared test. This statistical data analysis allowed us to determine that the current 2 team set-up was sufficient.

To take things further a sensitivity analysis was conducted by the application of 2 queuing models: M/M/s and M/G/s (where s = 1,2,3) which provided insights on how the waiting time would increase or decrease as we add or remove a team.

This collaboration with IDSC was a fruitful journey that the team thoroughly enjoyed and we are immensely grateful for the opportunity.
