In the current time, buying life insurance can still be challenging to many people. Although many insurance companies invested substantially in digitizing customer onboarding and policy binding. However, many has achieved far from desired progress.
The recent lockdowns and distancing protocol due to COVID-19 reinforce the need to rethink underwriting. Increasingly, insurance companies need to address customer and agent frustration with the lengthy and manual process. In this predicament, it is imperative for risk assessment to shift toward more remote, data-driven models, while distribution to shift from offline to more online interactions.
In FWD, we aim to change how people feel about insurance, hence, we are accelerating our focus on building digitally enabled, data-augmented, life-product purchasing journeys to stay ahead of the competition.
About the Speaker
Dr. Yao is the Group Vice President and Group Head of Data and Analytics at FWD Group. At FWD Group, Dr. Yao leads the Group’s Big Data Strategy and Customer Analytics team. Dr. Yao has over 18 years of Big Data Analytics experience, having served in companies including PingAn, UOB, IBM and Cisco. He has published over 15 research papers in addition to delivering data analytics projects for businesses.
His work has been recognized in major industry awards including National Center for Database Marketing Gold Award and IBM AP Best Practice; and was also voted the most useful and Best Practice in Cisco’s ISO-9001 Quality Program. Dr. Yao is frequently invited to industry events and conferences such as Customer Experience Asia Summit 2018; Digital Transformation for Insurance 2018; and CX Financial Services Exchange Asia 2018.
