How is financial data analysed to better understand the financial market? How do FinTech firms leverage data analytics in their business? How can data analytics assist traditional financial institutions to generate insights and make more informed decisions? In this seminar, Weiqi will share her academic research and industry-related translational research on empirical finance and data analytics. Through these discussions, Weiqi will illustrate how data analytics may provide technology-enabled solutions to FinTech firms or traditional financial institutions. Weiqi will also share her experience in FinTech and financial data analytics curriculum design.
Weiqi Zhang is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Finance, National University of Singapore. Previously, she held positions as a Junior Professor of Finance at the Muenster School of Business and Economics, University of Muenster, Germany, Visiting Fellow in Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. Weiqi has taught various courses to a large cross section of students and adult learners in several different countries, and her areas of expertise include Personal Finance & Wealth Management, Financial Markets, Investments and Portfolio Management, and Technologies and Data Analytics in Finance. Weiqi’s research interest includes empirical asset pricing, asset allocation and portfolio management, risk management, FinTech and personal finance. Her research has been published in leading academic journals, including the Management Science. Weiqi received her PhD in Finance from NUS Business School and Bachelor in Computing (with Honors) from National University of Singapore. She is also a CFA charter holder.
